David's top deck bus quiz.

I first met David Ogwe in the Autumn of 2013. I had just joined Oasis Inclusion Project, and at that time David was also working with Inclusion. Only a few weeks into my employment, there was an Oasis Saturday trip to visit the London Eye. A group of staff and children travelled on the 77 bus from Wandsworth Road to Waterloo. This bus journey could have been like any other London bus journey with a bunch of energetic children on a day out; volume admonishments and crowd control. It was probably the first time most of our group had been on the London Eye, & the destination probably should have been the most memorable thing about the trip for me. But as we all piled on to the bus, filling the entire back half of the top deck, David sat down and began a general knowledge quiz. There was a diverse age range from younger juniors to teenagers with us, yet somehow David could gage the questions so that every young mind got a chance to answer. He seemed to have a whole game show's worth of brain teasers up his sleeve. He even pulled out a fifty pence piece from his pocket as the grand prize money. He turned a mundane bus journey into an inclusive adventure, galvanising disparate attention spans and making it fun and engaging. This was not a vain attempt at subduing his boisterous audience, it was a masterclass in involving everyone around him, from the youngest to the oldest, in celebrating the moment, and being the best being they could be. I remember thinking at the time, that this man should be running things... I know the warmth and brilliance of David's candle will burn brightly and be felt for generations, as he travels with the ancestors whose lights have ensured that we need never curse the darkness.
