David is one of the kindest most genuine people that has ever walked this planet. He truly helped me to settle in at Oasis during my time working there. He took an interest in the lives of every child and young person that stepped through the gates into the playground. His work across the local area is legendary. So many local young lives have been influenced and positively made better by David. He showed a true love for his job and worked hard to ensure that Oasis was a safe space for everyone. An absolute legend of a human being, a true family man and a good old fashioned gentleman. I will always remember the time we spent working together. You will be missed. Lawrence

David was a very important person in my son's life, getting to know him over many summers at Oasis. He quickly became a trusted role model. David's patience and non judgmental attitude allowed him to learn how to grow and mature in a safe place. He clearly was a shining light for so many children and young people throughout his life. Our thoughts and love are with his family. We have belatedly only just learned of David's passing and neither of us can quite believe it yet. I have a clear memory from years ago. We were on the beach in Margate on an Oasis day out. Two of David's daughters were with him. My son wasn't having such an easy time initially. David offered to take him and some of the other children to Dreamland and immediately started engaging with him so positively I turned to his daughters and told them their dad was wonderful. He was. He leaves behind a huge legacy of goodness and kindness, and will be missed by many. Tracy

thank you David for touching the life of so many and for your generosity

I approached David at Oasis Garden a couple of years ago while doing research for my drinking fountain project which would involve Oasis. He was welcoming, enthusiastic and dedicated this project a lot of his time and patience, I will be forever grateful for giving me the opportunity to collaborate with Oasis. He was always keen to listening, to share his wisdom and positive energy.

A generous, unassuming and loving soul, his family and children at Oasis were at centre of all his thoughts and actions, every time I spoke to him!

I send my condolences to David's family and colleagues, I have no words.

David was above all else the most approachable person I'd ever met. His manner was so open and generous, he treated everyone with so much respect and kindness that he couldn't fail to make an impact on the lives of those around him. He believed in people and that is why he was a pleasure to work alongside; he always remembered the needs of others and took the time to make sure those needs were met. Thank you David x

During my time working at Oasis I worked very closely with David and considered him a friend. Even now I find myself reciting some of his phrases - my favourite “be like a tree and bend with the wind.” David and I would always lunch together at least once a week and he introduced me to many new dishes including curry goat which whenever I eat it I think of him! Best wishes to his family. Adam x

David’s light will forever shine. he was a good man of God and will definitely have his crown in heaven.

The best boss ever

I last saw David on the 18th of December and I’m still in complete shock. We first met when David arrived to take over at Max Roach Adventure Playground. David was by far the best manager I’d ever been blessed to have; so much so that I continued to ask him for references years after l’d left Lambeth.

David was caring, non judgemental, supportive and genuine. He was always kind and had such a gentle approach. He was even kind enough to arrange work experience for my then teenage daughter who didn’t take it very seriously yet; David was so patient and encouraging towards her.

I pray his legacy will live on in the hearts of us all. I pray for his beautiful family and feel honoured to have ever met David.
