I first met David in the late 1990s when we worked with him on plans for the original OASIS building and cycle centre. It sadly didn't go ahead but during the process I developed huge respect and affection for him. He combined clarity of thought and determination with huge amounts of insight, compassion and above all positive energy. He was a local hero who dedicated his life to the well being of others, in particular young people. He will be sorely missed by me and I am sure by the whole community. Julia Barfield
